The whole issue of the mass extinction of numerous animal kinds is confusing to the scientific community; some well-known scientists tell us that we will probably never know why the dinosaurs became extinct (see Dinosaurs: An Illustrated History by Edwin H. Colbert, p. 207).

However, the biblical account sheds some light on the issue: only two of every kind of animal were saved from the world-devastating Genesis flood, which means that all the animals not in the ark during the flood year died. Also, the animals that walked off the ark after the flood faced a vastly different world.
